Casetta dei Lagoni

Lake Maggiore region

Our B& B is located inside the Lagoni park. The park covers an area of 473 ha, at an altitude of 330 metres. In 2011 it became a UNESCO World Heritage site for its significance with respect to nature and history. It is characterized by the presence of large woods of oak, durmast oak, birch, chestnut and alder trees, while in the wetlands there are ponds called "Lagoni" (great lakes) which are the ideal habitat for over a hundred bird species. Prehistoric settlements were found in the area, which date back to the Bronze Age, necropolises from the Iron Age and some Roman houses. The first Italian stilt house was found here in 1860. The paths are flat and suitable for everyone. Each season provides a different natural display: flowers and water-lilies in winter and summer, mushrooms, chestnuts and the changing colour of leaves in the autumn, while skating on the pond is sometimes possible in winter. In addition to park hikes, there is Lake Maggiore with its enchanting landscapes... Arona, Stresa, Verbania, the Cannero castles, the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, the Rocca (Castle) di Angera, the Borromee isles, nearby Orta lake, botanical parks such as in Villa Taranto and much more. Boat tours are available and various sports can be practiced, such as golf (5 courses in the area), swimming, horse-riding, tennis and water-skiing. Brochures and information are available to our guests to best organize your days.
